Memphis Recording Service: The Complete Works 1953 - 1955
(2xCD/book set)

The Memphis Recording Service will soon release a 2xCD/100-page book compilation entitled Memphis Recording Service: The Complete Works 1953 – 1955 on the November 25th 2016.

The 100-page book chronicles Elvis’ short recording career there, from its humble beginnings (his personal acetate recordings from July 1953 and January 1954) through to the final Sun sessions in 1955. The full and comprehensive text is complemented by rare photographs and unseen pieces of documentation.

The 2 CDs contain the complete archival studio recordings from 1953- 1955: Elvis’ personal acetates, the Sun masters, along with rare session outtakes. The tracks have been painstakingly remastered and restored.

There are many highlights on this new release. All of the newly remastered tracks now sound much clearer and crisper. For instance, ‘That’s All Right’ has been taken from the ‘Mother’ master of the original Sun 45rpm. Also, for the first time on CD, I Forgot To Remember To Forget appears without the false bass RCA added to it in the 1980s when tampering with the master tapes.

The remastering of Elvis’ first acetate recordings – My Happiness and That’s When Your Heartaches Begin (from July 1953) – has also well exceeded the sound quality ever achieved before on these primitive recordings. Furthermore, on the outtakes of Blue Moon, the painstaking audio restoration has removed the overload and studio hum present on previous issues, and made them sound much better than ever before. Indeed, all previous erroneous mastering faults and miscalculations have been rectified on this release, making it the best collection of these seminal recordings thus far.

Elvis Presley - The Album Collection

Elvis The Collection

In March 2016 Sony Music’s catalog division, Legacy Recordings will release 'Elvis Presley - The Album Collection', a limited edition 60XCD box set commemorating the 60th Anniversary of the release of Elvis' first album for RCA.

This lavish set comprises of 57 Elvis albums originally released on RCA from 1956-1977 as well as three new discs of rarities from the ‘50s, ‘60s and ‘70s respectively.

Of course, many of Elvis’ long-players have been expanded and repackaged for Legacy Editions, themed box sets and the like over the years, but his 57 original LPs – studio and live albums, compilations of non-album singles, film soundtracks, and even budget albums with hard-to-find material – have been reissued only sparingly during the digital era. 'The Album Collection' presents – for the first time, in many cases – Elvis’ official, original albums as they were first released.

Legacy Recordings have promised fans that original album packaging has been “meticulously restored” for each of the discs included in with details including gatefold/die cut sleeves, original RCA Victor inserts and stickers, CD labels replicating original ‘side 1′ labels and more.

This collector’s box also includes a 300-page fully illustrated hard cover book featuring a commentary penned by Elvis Presley scholar John Jackson, discographies and recording session details (dates, locations, personnel, etc.) and more.

In addition to the 57 albums, this box set features three bonus CDs of rare tracks – new compilations, with each volume devoted to one of the decades: the 1950s, the 1960s and the 1970s.

'Elvis Presley – The Album Collection' will be released on March 18th 2016.

Memphis Recording Service will have its first release in 4 years entitled ‘Elvis Live In The '50s - The Complete Concert Recordings' on February 19th 2016.

This boxset is the ultimate tribute to Elvis Presley documenting his shows from the 1950s.
